Classification of brakes

According to the structure of the brake, it is divided into block type, belt type, disc type and cone type. According to the operation situation, it can be divided into normally closed type, normally open type, comprehensive type, etc. According to the driving mode, it can be divided into automatic type, control type and comprehensive type. According to the different power sources, it can be divided into manual type, foot type, electromagnetic hydraulic type and electromagnetic hydraulic combined type.
Structure and characteristics of brake
Block brakes are widely used in hoisting machinery because of their simple structure and reliable operation. Block brakes are divided into short stroke and long stroke.

(1) Short-stroke electromagnetic block brake
The structure of short-stroke electromagnetic block brake is shown in Figure 1. The upper brake relies on the main spring 1 and the frame-shaped pull rod 2 to press the left and right brake pads 12 and 13 on the left and right brake arms 10.11 against the brake wheel. The function of the auxiliary spring 7 makes the right brake arm 11 push outward, which is convenient for braking. The function of the nut 8 is to adjust the armature stroke, and the function of the three nuts 4 is to lock the main barrel and adjust the braking torque. Adjusting the nut 9 can make the two brake shoes have equal retreats.
When the current is switched on, the armature 6 of the electromagnet attracts the electromagnet core 5, pressing the push rod 3, further compressing the main spring 1, and the left brake arm 10 swings outward under the eccentric pressure generated by the weight of the electromagnet, so that the left brake shoe 12 leaves the brake wheel until the adjusting nut 9 blocks it, and at the same time, the auxiliary spring 7 makes the right brake arm 11 and the right brake shoe 13 on it leave the brake wheel to release the brake.

The characteristics of short-stroke brake are: quick release and braking; light weight and small size; Because there are few dumpling chains (longer travel), the dead travel of the brake releaser is small; Because the brake pad and the brake arm are connected by a dumpling chain, the contact between the pad and the brake wheel is even, and the wear is even, which is also convenient for adjustment. However, due to the rapid action of the short-stroke brake, the impact of the suction directly acts on the whole brake mechanism, so the screws on the brake are easy to loosen, which leads to brake failure and reduced working reliability, so it must be checked frequently; At the same time, due to the short braking stroke and fast action, the crane will make the bridge vibrate violently under the action of inertia. Short-stroke brakes are mostly used in trolley running mechanism and hitchhiking running mechanism with small lifting weight.
