How It Works:
- Normal Operation: Under normal conditions, the primary caliper applies pressure to the brake disc to slow down or stop the vehicle.
- Failure Detection: If a sensor detects a failure in the primary system (e.g., loss of hydraulic pressure or electrical signal), it sends a signal to the control unit.
- Fail-Safe Activation: The control unit activates the fail-safe mechanism, which could involve engaging a secondary caliper or activating a mechanical backup system.
- Continued Braking: The fail-safe mechanism takes over, ensuring that the brakes continue to function and provide stopping power even if the primary system has failed.
