How Hydraulic Disc Caliper Brakes Work:
- Hydraulic System: These brakes use a hydraulic system to transfer force from the brake actuator (usually a surge brake coupler or electric brake controller) to the brake calipers.
- Disc Rotor: A disc rotor is mounted to the trailer wheel hub. When the brakes are applied, the caliper squeezes the rotor to create friction, slowing down or stopping the trailer.
- Caliper Mechanism: The caliper houses brake pads that clamp onto the rotor. Hydraulic pressure forces the pads against the rotor, generating the necessary friction for braking.
