How They Work:
●Electromagnetic Activation:
- When power is supplied to the brake, an electromagnetic coil generates a magnetic field.
- This magnetic field overcomes the force of springs, causing the brake to disengage and allowing the motor or system to operate freely.
●Spring-Engaged Braking:
- When power is cut off (either intentionally or due to a failure), the electromagnetic field collapses.
- The springs then apply force to the brake pads or discs, causing them to clamp down and stop the rotating shaft or motor.
●Fail-Safe Design:
- The "power-off" feature ensures that the brake engages automatically in the event of a power loss, making it a fail-safe mechanism.
- This is critical for applications where uncontrolled motion could lead to accidents or damage.
