Installation Methods & Matching Accessories

1. Installation Methods

JZ series AC electromagnetic drum brakes take vertical electromagnet upward installation as the standard form; customized horizontal side mounting is available for equipment with insufficient vertical space. Their mounting dimensions comply with national industry standards and support direct replacement of old JZ, TJ2 and similar brake models.

Standard Vertical Installation

Secure the cast integral brake base tightly to a flat rigid bracket using high-strength bolts. Ensure the two brake shoes are symmetrically arranged on both sides of the brake drum, and the central axis of the brake frame aligns with the drum axis to avoid eccentric friction, local overheating and uneven lining wear.

Mount the matched AC electromagnet vertically on the top of the brake arm. Ensure the armature pull rod moves straight vertically without deflection, so stable magnetic attraction can be generated to overcome the spring braking force when powered on.

The built-in interlinked equal-clearance balancing device automatically keeps uniform gap between friction linings and the drum on both sides, effectively avoiding unilateral shoe dragging and reducing repeated manual adjustment.

Reserve sufficient surrounding operating space for friction lining replacement, braking torque calibration, coil inspection and manual release operation.

Optional Horizontal Side Mounting

This installation scheme applies to crane trolley running mechanisms and compact equipment with narrow vertical layout. Flip the brake arm assembly and arrange the brake laterally around the brake drum, which requires custom transition brackets. After horizontal assembly, check the elasticity of armature reset springs to prevent incomplete braking or slow release.

Core Installation Requirements

All hinge pivot points adopt maintenance-free self-lubricating bearings, no periodic greasing required after installation.

Fully clean oil stains, rust and dust on the brake drum surface before trial operation; oil contamination will drastically decrease friction coefficient and braking efficiency.

Adjust pre-compression of the main braking spring via adjusting nuts to set the required rated braking torque.

Fail-safe working logic: When energized, the electromagnet produces magnetic pull to open brake shoes and release the brake; when power is cut off, the main spring pushes shoes to clamp the drum and implement automatic braking.

Keep electromagnetic coils away from splashing water, heavy dust and corrosive gas to extend service life.

2. Standard Matching Accessories

Core Functional Supporting Components

AC Electromagnet AssemblySpecial matched driving component for JZ brakes, equipped with interchangeable electromagnetic coils. Standard supply voltages include AC220V and AC380V.

Manual Release LeverUsed for emergency brake opening during power outage or equipment overhaul, facilitating static inspection and maintenance.

Status Limit SwitchesDetect fully-braked and fully-released positions of the brake, transmit real-time feedback signals to the control system for safety interlock and operating status monitoring.

Consumable Spare Parts

Snap-on Quick-Replace Friction LiningsAdopt eco-friendly non-asbestos wear-resistant friction material. The clamping structure allows independent replacement without disassembling the whole brake frame. Semi-metallic linings are optional for heavy-load and high-frequency braking conditions.

Full Adjustment & Fastener KitContains torque adjusting nuts, clearance fine-tuning screws, locking bolts, hinge pins and auxiliary springs for long-term maintenance and parameter recalibration.

Spare Electromagnetic Coils & Insulating SleevesFor replacement when original coils are burnt, aging or damaged.

3. Optional Custom Accessories

Flameproof electromagnetic coils and explosion-proof limit switches for coal mines, chemical plants and other flammable & explosive hazardous zones.

Special transition brackets designed for horizontal side mounting layout.

Dust and splash-proof protective covers for outdoor, mining and cement plant high-dust working sites.

Anti-corrosion surface coating and stainless steel fasteners for coastal, humid and salt-fog corrosive environments.

Buffer damping assemblies to lower impact, vibration and running noise under frequent start-stop cycles.
