Installation Methods & Matching Accessories

1. Installation Methods

YP series electro-hydraulic disc brakes adopt horizontal clamping mounting as standard, and vertical installation can be customized according to on-site layout demands. Their mounting dimensions follow national industry standards, compatible with most standard brake discs for cranes, conveyors and metallurgical machinery.

Standard Horizontal Installation

Fix the brake base firmly on the equipment bracket with high-strength hexagon bolts. Keep the brake caliper centered on the brake disc; the friction pads on both sides shall maintain equal symmetrical clearance to avoid unilateral wear or disc dragging.

Install the matched electro-hydraulic thruster horizontally on the side of the caliper, ensuring the push rod moves parallel to the disc surface to guarantee uniform clamping force.

Reserve sufficient space on both sides of the brake disc for friction pad replacement, clearance adjustment and routine inspection.

The brake body must be kept perpendicular to the brake disc surface to prevent eccentric stress and abnormal noise during braking.

Optional Vertical Installation

Applicable to narrow horizontal installation space such as winch reels and reducer output shafts. Custom vertical transition brackets are required. Adjust the thruster oil level after installation to avoid slow response caused by insufficient oil supply.

Key Installation Requirements

Clean oil, rust and dust on the brake disc surface before commissioning; grease contamination will sharply reduce friction coefficient.

Adjust the pad clearance uniformly via the built-in adjusting screws after installation, the standard single-side gap ranges from 0.5 mm to 1.0 mm.

All sliding guide parts are equipped with self-lubricating sleeves to reduce maintenance frequency.

The overall structure is spring-applied fail-safe: power-off triggers automatic clamping braking, energization drives the thruster to retract and release the brake.

2. Standard Matching Accessories

Core Supporting Functional Parts

ED Series Electro-hydraulic ThrusterSpecial driving unit matched for YP disc brakes (ED23/5, ED50/6, ED80/6, ED121/6 for different torque grades). It provides linear thrust to open the brake caliper against braking springs. For explosive hazardous areas, flameproof BEd series thrusters are provided as alternatives.

Manual Release DeviceHand-operated release lever for emergency brake opening during power failure, overhaul or static equipment maintenance.

Limit Position SwitchesMonitor fully-released and fully-clamped status of the brake, send feedback signals to the control cabinet to realize electrical interlock and fault alarm.

Consumable Spare Parts

Quick-change friction padsHigh wear-resistant non-asbestos friction blocks with clamping structure; no need to disassemble the whole caliper during replacement. Semi-metallic pads are optional for heavy-load and high-frequency braking scenarios.

Adjustment & Fastener KitIncluding clearance adjusting screws, spring preload nuts, locking bolts and sliding guide sleeves for long-term parameter calibration and maintenance.

3. Optional Custom Accessories

Explosion-proof supporting assemblies (BEd flameproof thrusters, Ex-certified limit switches) for coal mines, chemical and petrochemical hazardous zones.

Custom transition brackets for vertical installation or special narrow-space layout.

Dust and water protective covers for outdoor, mining and cement plant high-dust working conditions.

Buffer damping components to reduce impact, vibration and noise under frequent braking cycles.

Anti-corrosion coating and stainless steel fasteners for coastal humid, saline and corrosive environments.
