YW-L SERIES ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC OPERATED(THRUSTER MOUNTED ON HORIZONTAL DIRECTION) DRUM BRAKES
The braking system consists of a brake arm, brake shoe, foundation frame, actuating lever, brake spring, and an electro-hydraulic thruster. The brake shoe is attached to the brake arm, and the space between the brake drum and the brake pad is modified by a spring mechanism. A robust spring, capable of generating the necessary braking force, is placed inside a square tube with a scale outside to display the spring force. This spring force can be fine-tuned by tightening the nut at the base of the spring. All parts are secured to the foundation frame.
Description
This brake is usually in a closed state because of the spring force. The hydraulic thruster is activated by an electric motor. When the power supply is turned on, the thruster motor is switched on and hydraulic pressure builds up in the hydraulic thruster. The piston is actuated immediately and the brake is released. When the power is cut off, the thruster motor stops, thereby releasing the hydraulic pressure. The thruster piston is pushed back and the brake pads clamp onto the brake drum. Due to the spring force, the brake is applied.
