How to adjust the crane brake?

Oct 11, 2021

1. Adjustment of brake shoe retraction distance

Adjusting the back distance of the brake shoe is also adjusting the stroke of the thruster. In the brake, loosen the lock nut and tighten the brake lever clockwise to increase the thruster compensation stroke, and vice versa, reduce the thruster compensation stroke. Just adjust the compensation stroke to the specified value. If the thruster compensation stroke is adjusted too large, it is necessary to unscrew the compensation tightening bolt and take out the compensation sleeve. At this time, the derailleur is not obstructed by the triangle plate and can rotate freely counterclockwise. At this time, you can loosen the brake lever counterclockwise, and finally recover, readjust the compensation stroke and the automatic compensation device.

2. Adjust the brake shoe retraction distance equally

The brake shoe back-distance equalization device generally does not need to be adjusted, and only needs to be adjusted after the initial or reinstallation. The method is to manually or electrically open the brake and observe the left and right brake shoe retraction distance. If the retraction distance of the brake shoe on the right is greater than the retraction distance of the brake shoe on the left, loosen the set nut on the left and turn the adjusting bolt clockwise (or loosen the set nut on the right and turn the adjusting bolt counterclockwise), Observe the change of the left and right brake shoe retraction distance. If they are not equal, continue until they are equal. The lever should be roughly horizontal, otherwise, you need to move the position of the brake base so that the center line of the brake roughly coincides with the center line of the brake wheel.

3. Adjustment of braking torque

The adjustment of the braking torque is very simple, only need to adjust the torque nut. Generally, when a wrench is used to turn the torque adjustment nut clockwise, the spring length becomes shorter and the braking torque increases, and vice versa. The length of the spring should not exceed the upper and lower lines shown on the torque scale, otherwise, the spring may be damaged, causing the brake to fail and even cause a safety accident.

4. Adjustment of the automatic compensation device for brake pad wear

(1) Press the compensation device pin down to the bottom (contact with the lower surface of the inner ring of the compensation sleeve).

(2) Loosen the set bolt until its lower end is outside the inner ring of the compensation sleeve.

(3) Manually or automatically raise the pusher push rod, at this time the detent is brought up. Then manually release or power off the pusher to reset the push rod under the action of the brake spring. At this time, the position of the dial pin will be pressed down a bit.

(4) Tighten the set bolt down until its lower end is basically in contact with the shift pin, and then tighten the set nut.

The adjustment of the automatic compensation device is now complete.
