1. Installation Methods

ZWZ series heavy-duty DC electromagnetic drum brakes adopt vertical upward electromagnet mounting as standard layout, horizontal lateral installation is customizable for narrow vertical equipment space. Mounting dimensions comply with GB6334-86 and JB/ZQ4386 standards, realizing direct interchangeable replacement of old ZWZ, ZWZ3 and ZWZA models.

Standard Vertical Installation

Secure the cast integral brake base firmly to flat rigid support brackets with high-strength bolts. Ensure two brake shoes are symmetrically wrapped around the brake drum, and the central axis of brake frame is strictly coaxial with the drum to avoid eccentric friction, local overheating and uneven lining abrasion.

Mount the matched DC electromagnet vertically on the top of brake arm. Keep armature pull rod moving straight vertically without deflection, to deliver stable magnetic attraction force for power-on brake release.

Built-in patented interlinked equal-gap balancing device automatically maintains uniform clearance between friction linings and drum on both sides, eliminating unilateral shoe dragging and reducing frequent manual calibration work.

Reserve ample surrounding operation space for friction lining replacement, braking torque calibration, coil overhaul and manual emergency release.

Optional Horizontal Side Mounting

Suitable for crane trolley travel mechanisms and compact equipment with limited vertical height. Flip the brake arm assembly and arrange the brake laterally around the brake drum, which requires customized transition brackets. After horizontal assembly, inspect armature reset spring elasticity to prevent incomplete braking or delayed release action.

Core Installation Requirements

All hinge pivot joints are equipped with maintenance-free self-lubricating bearings; periodic greasing is not required after installation.

Fully remove oil stains, rust and dust on brake drum surface before commissioning; grease contamination will drastically lower friction coefficient and braking efficiency.

Adjust pre-compression of main braking spring via torque adjusting nuts to set required rated braking torque.

Fail-safe working logic: When energized, DC electromagnet generates magnetic pull to open brake shoes and release brake; power cut-off triggers main spring to clamp the drum for automatic safety braking.

Isolate electromagnetic coils from splashing water, heavy dust and corrosive gas to extend service life.

Standard power supply: DC110V / DC220V; applicable for DC-driven lifting, metallurgical and port machinery.
