Operational Principle

• Actuation: When an electrical signal is applied to the solenoid coil, the magnetic field is created, pulling the armature towards the core. This movement is transferred through the linkage system, causing the brake shoes to expand and press against the drum. The frictional force between the shoes and the drum generates the braking torque, which slows down or stops the rotation of the drum and the attached load.
• Release: When the electrical signal is removed, the magnetic field collapses, and a spring mechanism within the brake returns the armature to its original position. This, in turn, retracts the brake shoes from the drum, allowing the load to rotate freely again. The spring - loaded release mechanism ensures a quick and complete release of the brake, preventing any residual drag.
