Description
Working Principle
1 Engagement
When the braking device is activated, an electric current is supplied to the electromagnetic coil. The magnetic field generated by the coil attracts an armature or a set of levers, which in turn pushes the brake shoes against the inner surface of the drum. The friction between the brake shoes and the drum creates a braking torque, slowing down or stopping the rotation of the drum.
2 Disengagement
When the current to the electromagnetic coil is cut off, the magnetic field collapses, and the armature or levers return to their original position due to the action of springs or other return mechanisms. This releases the pressure on the brake shoes, allowing the drum to rotate freely again.
