Core Operating Principle:
This series operates on a fail-safe, spring-applied, and electromagnetically released principle. It is a normally-closed brake, where the braking force is provided by strong internal springs, and an electromagnetic coil is used to release the brake.
Normal State (Brake Applied): Without electrical power supplied to the coil, the force of powerful internal brake springs forces the brake shoes outward against the inner surface of the brake drum, applying full braking torque and holding the shaft stationary.
Release (Energized): When DC voltage (e.g., 220V DC) is applied to the electromagnetic coil, it generates a magnetic field. This magnetic force attracts and moves an armature plate, compressing the brake springs via a lever or linkage mechanism. This action retracts the brake shoes from the drum, releasing the brake.
Apply (Fail-Safe, De-energized): When electrical power to the coil is cut off, the magnetic force disappears. The stored energy in the compressed brake springs immediately forces the armature back, re-clamping the brake shoes onto the drum, automatically and safely engaging the brake.
