ED Series Explosion-Protected Electro-Hydraulic Thruster - ED30/5Ex

Nov 25, 2025

The ED30/5Ex is an explosion-protected variant of the ED series electro-hydraulic thrusters, engineered for safe linear drive in hazardous industrial environments. It integrates explosion-proof design with reliable hydraulic power transmission, featuring a nominal thrust of 300 N and a rated stroke of 50 mm (model suffix "30" denotes 300 N thrust, "5" denotes 50 mm stroke). Compliant with GB 3836/IEC 60079 explosion-proof standards (Ex d IIC T4 Gb/Ex tD A21 IP65 T135°C), it serves as a core drive component for brakes, clutches, and control mechanisms in flammable, explosive, or dust-laden workplaces. Details of its core parameters, working principle, key features, and typical applications are as follows:

2. Working Principle

The ED30/5Ex adopts the core logic of "explosion-protected electric-hydraulic drive for extension + spring reset for retraction," with explosion-proof design integrated into all electrical and structural components. The working process is divided into three key stages:

2.1 Thrust Output (Power-On Stage)

When connected to the rated explosion-proof power supply, the built-in Ex d IIC T4 explosion-proof asynchronous motor starts, driving the integrated low-noise gear pump to rotate at high speed.

The gear pump draws ISO VG46 anti-wear hydraulic oil from the sealed explosion-proof oil tank (capacity: 8 L) through a 10 μm precision suction filter, pressurizing it to 8–12 MPa.

High-pressure oil is delivered to the single-acting hydraulic cylinder, pushing the piston and chrome-plated alloy steel push rod to extend linearly. Within a 50 mm stroke, it stably outputs 300 N nominal thrust, transmitting force to matched explosion-proof mechanisms (e.g., brake linkages, clamping devices) to complete release or activation actions.

2.2 Reset (Power-Off Stage)

When the power is cut off or the control signal terminates, the explosion-proof motor stops, and the hydraulic pump ceases pressure supply. The built-in pressure relief valve (max pressure ≤15 MPa) opens, allowing hydraulic oil to flow back to the tank.

The high-tension 60Si2MnA alloy steel return spring rebounds, pulling the piston and push rod back to the initial position. Thrust is fully released, enabling the matched mechanism (e.g., brake) to reset under its own spring force, achieving emergency braking or locking.

2.3 Safety & Explosion-Proof Guarantees

Flameproof Structure: The motor and electrical junction box adopt flameproof enclosures with minimal explosion gaps (≤0.2 mm), preventing internal sparks from igniting external flammable gases or dust. Explosion-proof cable glands seal all wire entries to block gas/dust intrusion.

Overload & Overheat Protection: The motor is equipped with F-class insulation and a thermal protector, automatically cutting off power when the temperature exceeds 155°C to avoid burnout. The relief valve prevents hydraulic system overpressure, protecting the cylinder and seals.

Anti-Leakage & Dustproof: The cylinder uses FKM high-pressure explosion-proof seals (pressure resistance ≥20 MPa) to eliminate oil leakage; the entire unit meets IP65 protection, resisting dust and water splashes in harsh hazardous environments.

Status Feedback: Optional explosion-proof position sensors (Ex ia IIC T4) output "extended" and "retracted" signals, enabling interlock control with the host equipment to avoid misoperation.
