Operating Principle:

Safety braking slows down or safely brings a moving load to a standstill. On the safety brake, the braking force is generated by a preloaded spring. Safety brakes have electromagnetic, hydraulic or pneumatic ventilation. In a power outage, they are closed. As a result, they meet safety requirements under all operating conditions, including emergency shutdowns and power outages. The task of safety brakes is to safely protect personnel from injury and equipment from damage.

The safety brake operates according to the fail-safe principle and turns off (braking) in the case of power failure.
Spring brakes are primarily designed to hold the brakes, but are also suitable for emergency braking and, depending on the design, can also be used for dynamic braking.
