YFX-400/80 Wind Storm Brake
✔ Iron Wedge, Not Friction Pad - When power fails, a hardened steel wedge drops UNDER the wheel onto the rail. Wheel rolls up the ramp and locks mechanically. Even if hydraulics leak, the wedge STAYS put (self-locking wedge angle). This is a fundamentally different - and more reliable - principle than any friction-pad brake.
✔ 32kN Storm Holding Force (per unit) - YFX-400/80 delivers 32kN of horizontal wind-resistant force (rated, f=0.46, per wheel load). Stack multiple units on one crane to meet any wind code.

Products Description
The YFX-400/80 is a storm / windproof iron-wedge brake - a safety device for outdoor rail-mounted cranes. It does NOT do running deceleration (that's the job of your YW series service brakes). Its single job: when the crane is parked, lock it to the rail so a 12-class typhoon cannot move it a millimetre.
How the model reads: YFX = Electro-hydraulic windproof wedge; 400 = fits Ø400mm travel wheel; 80 = matched with ED80/6 electro-hydraulic thruster (NOT 80kN - see spec table below).
What it solves: Outdoor gantry cranes, portals, RTGs, ship-to-shore cranes, and rail transfer cars are exposed to sudden gusts. A 20m/s wind on a 40t gantry generates a horizontal force of ~150–200kN. Ordinary service brakes can creep. The YFX wedge, combined with anchoring cables, converts that force into a mechanical ramp-lock against the rail head. This is why crane safety codes treat windproof wedges as mandatory, not optional.

⚠️ Important - "80" is NOT 80kN. The "80" in YFX-400/80 denotes the ED80 thruster model, not the holding force. The actual per-unit windproof force of YFX-400/80 is 32kN. The correct formula is F = f × N_wheel (f = 0.46, N_wheel = wheel load). Always calculate total crane wind load and select the number of YFX units accordingly - never guess from the model number.
