YW-K400/E80 Normally-Open Electro-Hydraulic Drum Brake

YW-K400/E80 belongs to YW-K normally-open electro-hydraulic drum brake series, fitted with standard E80 ED-type electro-hydraulic thruster and matching 400mm nominal-diameter brake drum. Different from conventional normally-closed YWZ-series brakes, this model adopts normally-open structural design: brake is automatically released by built-in return springs under power-off status, and only performs braking when the E80 thruster is energized to output thrust. Widely applied for travel mechanism deceleration of overhead & gantry cranes, non-hoisting industrial winches and belt conveyor auxiliary braking.

2. Core Working Principle (Key: Normally Open)

Power-off (Default Running State: Brake Released)When equipment cuts off power, internal reset springs pull the brake linkage to keep two brake shoes fully separated from the 400mm brake drum; the drum rotates freely with no friction drag on operation.

Power-on (Braking State: Shoe Clamping Drum)When braking command is triggered and E80 thruster gets powered, the thruster pushrod stretches out, overcomes spring preload and drives the brake lever to squeeze brake shoes tightly onto drum surface to generate friction torque for deceleration or stop rotation.

Power failure instant reset: Once power cuts unexpectedly, springs immediately retract brake shoes to release brake automatically, avoiding equipment locking caused by sudden power loss.
