Description
Working Principle (Normally-Opened Configuration)
In the normally-opened configuration, the brake shoes are held away from the brake drum by spring force when the braking mechanism is not actuated. This allows the rotating equipment to operate freely without any braking resistance.
When braking is required, the actuating device is activated, overcoming the spring force and causing the brake lever mechanism to move. This, in turn, pushes the brake shoes against the brake drum, generating friction and creating a braking torque that slows down or stops the rotation of the equipment.
Once the braking action is completed, the actuating force is removed, and the springs return the brake shoes to their original position, away from the brake drum, ready for the next operation cycle.
