1. Installation Methods

YW-L series electro-hydraulic drum brakes take vertical upward thruster mounting as the standard form, while horizontal lateral installation can be customized for equipment with limited vertical space. The mounting dimensions conform to JB/T6406 industrial standards, realizing interchangeable replacement with conventional YWZ series brakes.

Standard Vertical Installation

Secure the cast brake base firmly to a flat and rigid mounting foundation with high-strength bolts. Ensure the two brake shoes are symmetrically distributed on both sides of the brake drum, and the central axis of the shoes coincides with the drum axis.

Install the supporting ED series electro-hydraulic thruster vertically upwards. This layout guarantees normal internal hydraulic oil circulation and stable braking response.

The built-in linkage equal-gap balancing mechanism automatically keeps consistent clearance between friction linings and the drum on both sides, avoiding unilateral shoe dragging and uneven wear without frequent manual adjustment.

Reserve enough surrounding operating space for later friction lining replacement, torque calibration and daily inspection.

Optional Horizontal Side Mounting

This layout applies to compact crane trolley travel mechanisms and narrow installation spaces. Flip the brake arm assembly and install the brake laterally around the brake drum, which requires matched customized transition brackets. After horizontal assembly, recheck the oil level inside the thruster to prevent jamming or slow movement caused by abnormal oil storage.

Key Installation Requirements

All hinge pivot positions adopt maintenance-free self-lubricating bearings, no regular greasing required after installation.

Thoroughly wipe off oil stains, rust and dust on the brake drum surface before trial run to avoid attenuation of friction performance.

Adjust the pre-compression of the main brake spring through the scale on the spring sleeve to set the required rated braking torque.

Clear all blocking debris between the brake frame and drum to ensure complete opening and closing stroke of the brake shoes.

ED Series Electro-Hydraulic ThrusterStandard drive unit matched for YW-L models (specifications include ED23/5, ED50/6, ED80/6, ED121/6). It follows the fail-safe spring-applied logic: energize to release the brake, cut off power to trigger automatic braking. For flammable and explosive sites, flameproof BEd series thrusters are available as matching parts.

Manual Release LeverUsed for emergency brake opening during power failure or equipment overhaul, convenient for manual maintenance operation.

Brake Position Limit SwitchesDetect fully-released and fully-braked states of the brake, transmit real-time feedback signals to the electrical control system to realize safety interlock protection.
