YW-K Series Normally-Open Electro-Hydraulic Drum Brake
YW-K normally-open electro-hydraulic drum brakes are vertically installed as standard with horizontal mounting optional, specially matched with ED series thrusters for power-on braking and power-off full release. Standard accessories include status limit switches and scale-marked torque adjustment springs; clamped quick-replace friction linings are regular wearing spares. Flameproof assemblies, custom brackets and dust shields are available optional parts for various industrial working conditions.

1. Installation Methods
YW-K series normally-open drum brakes adopt vertical upward thruster mounting as standard, horizontal side mounting is available for limited vertical installation space. It complies with JB/T6406-2006 and DIN15435 mounting dimension standards, interchangeable with conventional YWZ series brakes.
Standard Vertical Installation
Fasten the integral cast brake base firmly on flat rigid foundation with high-strength bolts; align the central horizontal line of brake shoes precisely with the brake drum's central axis, coaxial error ≤2mm.
Mount matched ED series electro-hydraulic thruster vertically upward to guarantee stable internal hydraulic oil circulation and reliable normally-open operation logic.
The built-in interlinked equal-clearance balancing device automatically maintains uniform gap between two friction linings and the drum after assembly, eliminating unilateral dragging without repeated manual calibration.
Reserve sufficient surrounding space for lining replacement, torque adjustment and routine inspection.
Optional Horizontal Side Mounting
Suitable for trolley travel mechanisms of overhead/gantry cranes with narrow vertical layout. Flip the brake arm assembly and install the brake laterally around the brake drum; customized transition brackets are required. Recheck the thruster oil level after horizontal assembly to avoid abnormal action.
Critical Installation Requirements
All hinge pivot points are fitted with maintenance-free self-lubricating bearings, no periodic greasing needed after installation.
Fully clean oil, rust and dust on the brake drum surface before commissioning to guarantee stable friction performance.
Adjust the spring preload via the scale-equipped square spring tube to set target braking torque after installation.
Distinct from normally-closed brakes: YW-K stays fully released when power cuts off; braking force only generates after the thruster is energized.

ED Series Electro-Hydraulic ThrusterStandard matched drive unit complying with DIN15430 (ED23/5, ED30/5, ED50/6, ED80/6 etc.). Unique working logic: energize to push brake shoes for deceleration braking; power off, built-in return springs pull shoes apart to release the brake completely. Flameproof BEd series thrusters are supplied for coal mines and chemical explosive zones.
Brake Status Limit SwitchesDetect fully-open / fully-braked positions of the brake, transmit feedback signals to the crane control system for electrical interlock and running speed monitoring.
Torque Adjustment HardwareSpring assembly with visible torque scale inside sealed square tube, including main return springs, adjusting nuts and lock bolts for stepless braking torque calibration.
