YW-E Two-step Series Electro-hydraulic drum brakes

YW-E two-step electro-hydraulic drum brakes are vertically installed as standard with horizontal mounting optional, matched with ED series thrusters and exclusive damping cylinder assemblies for adjustable 1–15s two-stage delay braking. Standard accessories contain manual release lever and status limit switches; clamped quick-replace friction linings and sealing kits are regular wearing spares. Flameproof assemblies, custom brackets and dust shields are available optional parts for various harsh working conditions.

1. Installation Methods

 
YW-E two-stage electro-hydraulic drum brakes adopt vertical upward thruster mounting as standard, horizontal lateral installation is available upon custom request, complying with JB/T6406-2006 and DIN15435 mounting dimension standards for universal replacement.
 

Standard Vertical Installation

 
  1. Fix the cast brake base firmly to a flat rigid foundation with high-strength bolts; keep the two brake shoes symmetrically wrapped around the outer surface of the brake drum.
  2. Install the matched ED series electro-hydraulic thruster vertically upward to guarantee sufficient internal hydraulic oil lubrication and stable two-stage delay braking performance.
  3. The built-in interlinked equal-gap balancing device automatically maintains uniform clearance between friction linings and the drum on both sides after installation, eliminating one-side dragging without frequent manual calibration.
  4. Reserve ample surrounding space for friction pad replacement, two-stage torque adjustment, damping cylinder maintenance and manual release operation.
 

Optional Horizontal Side Mounting

 
For limited vertical space on crane travel mechanisms, reposition the adjusting assembly and flip the brake arm structure to mount the brake laterally around the drum. Custom transition brackets are required to match horizontal layout, and the thruster oil level must be readjusted during assembly.
 

Core Installation Requirements

 
  • All hinge joints are equipped with maintenance-free self-lubricating bearings, no regular grease filling needed after installation.
  • Clean all oil, dust and rust on the brake drum surface before commissioning to avoid reduced friction efficiency.
  • Adjust the one-way throttle valve on the damping cylinder circuit after installation to set the two-stage delay time (adjustable range: 1–15 seconds) according to working conditions.
 

2. Standard Matching Accessories

 

Core Functional Components

 
  1. ED Series Electro-hydraulic Thruster

     

    Special matched drive unit conforming to DIN15430, including ED23/5, ED30/5, ED50/6, ED80/6 for different YW-E models; controls brake opening and spring-applied fail-safe braking after power loss. Flameproof BEd series thrusters are supplied for explosive hazardous areas.

  2. Damping Cylinder Assembly with One-way Speed Control Valve

     

    Exclusive two-stage braking accessory, used to adjust the time interval between first-stage soft deceleration torque and second-stage full holding/wind-proof torque (1–15s adjustable).

  3. Manual Release Lever

     

    For emergency brake release during power failure, overhaul or static equipment maintenance.

  4. Brake Status Limit Switches

     

    Feed back brake open/closed signals to the control system for electrical interlock protection; wear limit switches are optional to monitor friction pad abrasion threshold.

  1. Clamped Quick-replace Friction Linings

     

    Integrated molded non-asbestos wear-resistant pads; plug-in design allows fast replacement without disassembling the whole brake frame.

  2. Two-stage Adjustment Hardware Kit

     

    Including primary deceleration spring, secondary holding spring, torque adjusting nuts, clearance adjusting screws and all fastening bolts for torque calibration.
