YWZ8 Series Electro-hydraulic drum brakes

YWZ8 electro-hydraulic drum brakes are vertically installed as standard, horizontal side mounting is optional. They are specially matched with ED series electro-hydraulic thrusters, equipped with manual release lever and status limit switches. Plug-in friction pads and adjustment bolts are standard wear spares. Flameproof assemblies, custom brackets and dust shields are optional accessories to fit various working conditions.

 

Products Description

 

1. Installation Methods

 
YWZ8 series drum brakes adopt vertical installation (standard); horizontal side mounting is available for limited installation space on request. The overall dimension standard complies with JB/ZQ4388-1997.
 
  1. Vertical Standard Mounting

     

    Fix the brake base firmly on flat foundation with high-strength anchor bolts. Assemble the brake frame onto the brake drum, keep two brake shoes symmetrically aligned with the drum surface. The matched ED series electro-hydraulic thruster must be installed vertically upward to ensure normal internal oil lubrication. After installation, adjust the clearance between friction linings and the drum to uniform value on both sides, avoiding dragging or uneven wear. Reserve enough surrounding space for pad replacement, maintenance and manual release operation.

  2. Horizontal Side Mounting

     

    Suitable when the brake drum is sandwiched between motor and reducer. Disassemble the adjusting screw and turn over the brake arms, then mount the whole brake unit laterally around the drum from side direction. Additional customized brackets are required for horizontal installation.

  3. Key Installation Requirements
 
  • The mounting base surface must be flat without deformation to guarantee stable operation.
  • All hinge joints are fitted with self-lubricating bearings; no extra grease needed after installation.
  • Equipped with interlinked equal-gap balancing device, automatically maintain consistent shoe clearance during long-term operation.
 

2. Standard Matching Supporting Parts

 

Main Core Components

 
  1. ED Series Electro-hydraulic Thruster

     

    Exclusive matched drive unit for YWZ8 (e.g. ED23/5, ED80/6, ED121/6, ED201/6). It pushes brake arms open when energized and retracts to realize spring braking after power cut-off. Flameproof BEd series thrusters are matched for explosive hazardous environments.

  2. Manual Release Lever

     

    For emergency brake release during power failure or routine equipment maintenance.

  3. Stroke Limit Switches

     

    Detect opening/closing status of the brake, transmit feedback signals to the electrical control system for safety interlock protection.

  1. Insert-type / Riveted Friction Linings

     

    Eco-friendly non-asbestos wear-resistant pads; plug-in type supports quick replacement without disassembling the whole brake frame. Customers may select lining mounting type when ordering.

  2. Adjustment Hardware Kit

     

    Including torque adjusting nuts, clearance adjusting screws, main brake springs and all fastening bolts for regular calibration.

  1. Flameproof electrical assemblies (flameproof thrusters, explosion-proof limit switches) for coal mines, chemical plants and other Ex hazardous areas.
