Working Principle

• Brake Application: When the equipment needs to be braked, an electrical signal is sent to the hydraulic control unit. The pump starts to operate, generating hydraulic pressure. This pressure is directed through the directional control valve to the hydraulic cylinder in the brake assembly. As the pressure in the cylinder increases, it overcomes the force of the spring and pushes the brake shoes away from the drum, allowing the equipment to move freely.
• Brake Release: To release the brake, the electrical signal to the pump is cut off, and the hydraulic pressure in the system drops. The spring in the brake assembly then forces the brake shoes back against the drum, applying the braking force and stopping the equipment. The relief valve ensures that the pressure in the system does not exceed safe limits during the braking and release processes.
