Description

The YWZ4-150/E23 is a medium-duty normally closed electro-hydraulic drum brake, integrated with the E23 electro-hydraulic thruster. It excels in safety, stability, and ease of use, tailored for light-to-medium load industrial equipment. Below are its core advantages and detailed installation specifications:

1. Core Advantages

1.1 Reliable Safety Performance

Adopts a normally closed design-relying on high-tension cylindrical springs (60Si2MnA alloy steel) to maintain braking state when the E23 thruster is de-energized. In case of sudden power failure or hydraulic system malfunction, it automatically engages braking within ≤0.4 seconds, preventing equipment runaway and load slipping. The E23 thruster is equipped with F-class insulation and a thermal protector, cutting off power when overheated (≥155°C) to avoid burnout, enhancing overall operational safety.

1.2 Stable Braking Output

Features asbestos-free resin-based friction linings with a stable friction coefficient (μ ≥ 0.42). The linings are resistant to mild moisture, dust, and temperature fluctuations (-10°C to 60°C), ensuring consistent braking torque (125 N·m) in workshops, warehouses, or outdoor environments. The drum (150 mm diameter) adopts heat-dissipating structural design, reducing thermal deformation during high-frequency operation and avoiding brake fade.

1.3 Compact & Space-Saving

Integrates the brake body and E23 thruster into a modular structure, with a total weight of only ≈28 kg. Its compact size (adapted to 150 mm diameter drums) saves installation space, making it ideal for equipment with limited mounting room, such as small cranes, electric hoists, and light conveyors.

1.4 Easy Maintenance & Low Cost

Equipped with a manual wear adjuster, allowing quick calibration of brake clearance (compensating for up to 5 mm of lining wear) without disassembling the entire brake. The modular design enables easy replacement of friction linings and thruster components; daily maintenance only requires checking lining wear, oil leakage, and spring elasticity, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

1.5 Wide Compatibility

Compatible with light-to-medium load equipment (5–30 tons), including small overhead cranes, electric hoists, belt conveyors, and rail transfer carts. The E23 thruster supports 380V three-phase AC (optional 220V AC), adapting to different power supply conditions in industrial sites.

2. Installation Specifications

2.1 Pre-Installation Preparation

Bracket & Base Requirements: The mounting bracket (not supplied with the brake) must be manufactured according to the product manual's dimensions, tolerances, and surface roughness. The base should be welded or bolted to a rigid structure, ensuring no deformation or vibration during braking (flatness deviation ≤0.2 mm/m).

Component Inspection: Check for damage to the brake body, drum, linings, springs, and thruster. Verify that the E23 thruster's oil level is within the normal range and that seals are intact (no oil leakage). Ensure the hydraulic system uses ISO VG46 anti-wear hydraulic oil with cleanliness ≤ NAS 8.

Tool Preparation: Prepare a torque wrench (0–200 N·m), caliper gauge, level meter, 10.9-grade high-strength bolts with nylon lock inserts, and flat washers (45# steel quenched and tempered).

2.2 Core Installation Steps

Positioning & Alignment: Align the brake body with the drum, ensuring the brake shoes are symmetrically distributed on both sides of the drum. The distance between the linings and drum should be 0.3–0.5 mm on each side; adjust via the thruster's push rod if necessary.

Securing the Brake: Fasten the brake body to the mounting bracket using 6 or more 10.9-grade M12 bolts. Tighten the bolts in a diagonal sequence to the specified torque (80–100 N·m) to ensure uniform clamping force and avoid base deformation.

Thruster & Hydraulic Connection: Fix the E23 thruster to the brake's lever mechanism, ensuring the push rod is aligned with the lever (coaxiality deviation ≤0.5 mm). Connect the thruster's hydraulic inlet/outlet to the system using high-pressure hoses (burst pressure ≥30 MPa), and use thread sealant to prevent oil leakage. Bleed air from the hydraulic circuit after connection.

Electrical Wiring: Connect the E23 thruster to the 380V three-phase AC power supply (or 220V AC optional) according to the wiring diagram. Ensure the electrical connection is tight and insulated to avoid short circuits.

2.3 Installation Precision Control

Drum Runout: The maximum end runout of the brake drum shall not exceed ±0.2 mm; radial runout ≤±0.15 mm.

Perpendicularity & Centering: The base's perpendicularity deviation relative to the drum axis ≤±3‰; the drum's centering deviation relative to the brake center ≤±2 mm.

Lever Mechanism Clearance: Ensure no jamming in the lever and hinge points; apply lubricating grease to moving parts to reduce friction.

2.4 Post-Installation Calibration & Testing

Action Test: Energize the thruster to verify smooth brake release (clearance between linings and drum: 0.3–0.5 mm). De-energize to check if the brake engages quickly without abnormal noise or jamming.

Torque Verification: Conduct a load test to confirm the braking torque meets the rated 125 N·m; adjust the thruster's hydraulic pressure (8–10 MPa) if necessary.

Safety Test: Simulate sudden power failure to verify automatic braking engagement within ≤0.4 seconds. Check the thruster's thermal protection function and ensure no oil leakage during continuous operation.
