2. Working Principle
The brake adopts a "normally closed + explosion-protected electro-hydraulic drive" design, with the BEd121/6 thruster providing power. Its operation relies on the coordination of hydraulic thrust and brake spring force, divided into three core stages:
2.1 Brake Release (Power-On Stage)
When the host equipment needs to operate, the BEd121/6 explosion-protected thruster is energized. Its built-in explosion-proof motor drives the hydraulic pump to generate 12–16 MPa hydraulic pressure, pushing the thruster's push rod to extend linearly.
The push rod transmits force to the brake's lever mechanism, compressing the high-tension brake spring (60Si2MnA alloy steel) and driving the two brake shoes to separate outward from the drum.
A 0.3–0.5 mm uniform clearance is formed between the brake linings (asbestos-free resin-based composite, wear-resistant and high-temperature resistant) and the brake drum, allowing the drum to rotate freely with the equipment's rotating shaft-completing the release action.
2.2 Braking Engagement (Power-Off Stage)
When the equipment stops or an emergency occurs, the thruster is de-energized. The hydraulic system relieves pressure, and the thruster's push rod retracts under the action of its internal return spring.
The brake spring rebounds rapidly, pushing the brake shoes to clamp inward toward the rotating brake drum. The friction between the linings and the drum generates 1200 N·m braking torque, decelerating the equipment until it stops and maintaining a locked state.
In case of sudden power failure or thruster malfunction, the normally closed design ensures the brake automatically engages, preventing equipment runaway in hazardous environments.
2.3 Safety Protection Mechanisms
Overload & Overheat Protection: The BEd121/6 thruster is equipped with a thermal protector (F-class insulation) that cuts off power when the motor temperature exceeds 155°C. The brake's built-in relief valve prevents hydraulic system overpressure, avoiding component damage.
Explosion-Proof Safety: All electrical components (thruster motor, position sensor) adopt flameproof enclosures with minimal explosion gaps (≤0.2 mm), preventing internal sparks from igniting external flammable gases or dust. Explosion-proof cable glands seal electrical connections to block gas/dust intrusion.
Wear Compensation: A built-in automatic wear adjuster compensates for up to 10 mm of lining wear, maintaining consistent braking torque and clearance without manual calibration.
Interlock Control: Explosion-proof position sensors output "released" and "engaged" signals, enabling interlock with the host equipment-ensuring the host can only start when the brake is fully released, and stops immediately when the brake engages.
3. Key Features
Dual Explosion-Proof Protection: Complies with both gas and dust explosion-proof standards, suitable for Zone 1/2 (flammable gases such as methane, propane) and Zone 21/22 (combustible dust such as coal dust, grain dust) hazardous areas.
High Braking Reliability: 1200 N·m rated torque and asbestos-free high-friction linings (friction coefficient μ ≥ 0.45) ensure stable braking for heavy-load equipment (50–200 tons), avoiding sliding or drifting.
Compact & Integrated Design: The thruster and brake body are integrally installed, reducing external pipelines and connection points-lowering leakage risks and simplifying on-site assembly in narrow hazardous spaces.
Harsh-Environment Adaptability: IP65 protection rating, anti-corrosion epoxy coating, and high-temperature resistant linings (≤200°C) adapt to humid, dusty, and high-temperature conditions in mines, chemical plants, and steel mills.
Low Maintenance: Modular design allows quick replacement of linings and thruster components; the sealed brake drum prevents dust intrusion, extending service life to ≥15,000 working hours.
4. Typical Applications
The DYW400-1200 (BEd121/6) is optimized for heavy-load explosion-proof equipment in hazardous industrial sectors, with core applications including:
4.1 Mining Industry
Underground Coal Mine Hoists & Belt Conveyors: Used as the main brake for 50–100 ton mine hoists and long-distance belt conveyors. It adapts to underground methane-rich, coal dust-laden environments, ensuring safe braking during coal lifting and transportation-preventing gas explosions caused by electrical sparks.
Mine Inclined Shaft Winches & Ore Transport Vehicles: Equipped on inclined shaft winches and rail-mounted ore transport vehicles, providing reliable emergency braking to avoid equipment runaway or ore spillage in humid, dusty underground conditions.
4.2 Chemical & Petroleum Industry
Chemical Plant Reactors & Material Conveyors: Brakes for rotating equipment such as reactors, mixers, and hazardous material conveyors in chemical workshops (flammable gas/vapor environments, e.g., methanol, ethylene production lines). Explosion-proof design eliminates ignition sources, ensuring safe operation of chemical processes.
Oil Refinery Storage Tank Agitators & Pipeline Pumps: Used in the braking systems of storage tank agitators and high-pressure pipeline pumps, resisting oil mist, corrosive gases, and ensuring explosion-proof safety during oil processing and transportation.
4.3 Metallurgical & Coal Processing Industry
Steel Mill Small/Medium Ladle Conveyors & Blast Furnace Feeding Equipment: Brakes for ladle transfer cars and blast furnace feeding mechanisms, withstanding high-temperature (≤60°C ambient) and high-dust environments. Stable braking prevents molten steel spillage or material jamming.
Coal Preparation Plant Heavy-Duty Crushers & Screens: Equipped on coal crushers, vibrating screens, and transfer conveyors in coal preparation plants (combustible coal dust zone). Explosion-proof protection prevents dust combustion, ensuring continuous production safety.
4.4 Port & General Hazardous Environment Equipment
Port Explosion-Proof Cargo Cranes & Loading Arms: Brakes for small-to-medium explosion-proof cranes and oil tank truck loading arms in hazardous cargo terminals. Resists coastal salt spray and flammable vapor, ensuring safe loading/unloading of explosive or flammable goods.
Explosion-Proof AGVs & Heavy-Duty Transfer Carts: Braking systems for explosion-proof automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and heavy-duty transfer carts in pharmaceutical, paint, or solvent factories-adapting to flammable vapor environments and ensuring safe material transportation.
