Drum brake is a common automobile braking system, which consists of several parts, including brake drum, brake shoes, brake cylinder, adjusting lever and elastic arrow.

Basic structure of drum brake

1. Brake drum: The brake drum is a round metal shell, usually made of cast iron or steel. It is fixed on the wheel and rotates through the axle. When the vehicle needs to stop, the brake shoes will be pressed to the inside of the brake drum, thus slowing down or stopping the rotation of the wheels.
Brake shoes: Brake shoes are metal pieces that are used to contact the brake drum to slow down or stop the wheels. Usually, there are two or four brake shoes in a group, and they are connected to the adjusting rod through a spring.

3. Brake cylinder: The brake cylinder is a hydraulic component, which is used to transfer the liquid pressure to the brake shoe. It includes a piston and two oil pipes.

4. Adjusting lever: The adjusting lever is used to control the gap between the brake shoe and the brake drum. It can be adjusted manually or by itself.
5. Spring: The spring is used to connect the brake shoe and the adjusting lever to keep the brake shoe in the correct position.
