Working principle of drum brake

1. Brake pedal: When the driver steps on the brake pedal, brake fluid enters the brake cylinder through the master, which will cause the piston to move outward and transfer the hydraulic pressure to the brake shoes.

2. Brake shoes: When the hydraulic pressure is transmitted to the brake shoes, they will contact the brake drum and slow down or stop the wheel rotation.

3. Adjusting lever: The adjusting lever is used to control the gap between the brake shoe and the brake drum. When the brake shoes come into contact with the brake drum, they will wear and become smaller. The adjusting lever can be adjusted manually or by itself to ensure the correct clearance.

4. Spring: The spring arrow is used to connect the brake shoe and the adjusting lever to keep the brake shoe in the correct position. When the brake shoe contacts the brake drum, the spring will be stretched and provide additional support.

5. Brake pads: In some high-end cars, there is another component called "brake pads". These components are usually made of high-performance materials such as carbon fiber and are used to replace traditional brake shoes. The brake pad contacts the brake drum to slow down or stop the wheel rotation.
