MW(Z) ELECTROMAGNETIC AND DRUM BRAKE

The structure of drum brake is shown in Figure 3-26. The classic drum brake is mainly composed of bottom plate, brake drum, brake shoe, brake wheel cylinder (brake cylinder), return spring, positioning pin and other parts.

The bottom plate is installed in the fixed position of the axle. It is immobile. It is equipped with a brake shoe, a wheel cylinder, a return spring and a positioning pin, and bears the rotating torque when braking. Each drum has a pair of brake shoes with friction linings. The brake drum is installed on the hub and rotates with the wheel.

It is made of a certain amount of cast iron and looks like a drum. The drum brake stops the tire from rotating, which uses hydraulic pressure to transmit from the master cylinder to the wheel cylinder to press the brake shoe against the brake drum, which rotates with the tire. When the hydraulic pressure on the wheel cylinder disappears, the force of the return spring pushes the brake shoe to leave the inner surface of the brake drum and return to its original position.
