4. Working Principle

This drum brake follows a normally closed fail-safe working logic:

Power-off braking state (static standby): The explosion-proof thruster loses power, its internal hydraulic pressure disappears, and the built-in spring retracts the push rod. At the same time, the main braking springs push the two brake shoes to tightly clamp the outer surface of the 500mm brake drum. The friction torque locks the drum and prevents the hoisting drum from rotating, avoiding heavy load sliding accidents.

Power-on release state (equipment running): When the crane or winch starts to work, the control circuit energizes the ED201 explosion-proof thruster. The internal motor drives the hydraulic pump to build pressure, pushing the thruster rod to extend outward. The push rod drives the brake shoe linkage mechanism to overcome the spring preload, separating the two brake shoes from the brake drum. No friction resistance exists, and the brake drum can rotate freely with the hoisting mechanism.

Emergency braking state: Once power supply fails suddenly, hydraulic leakage or control system fault occurs, the thruster immediately loses pressure, the main springs rapidly drive the brake shoes to clamp the drum and realize emergency locking, effectively protecting personnel and heavy cargo safety.
