Products Description

1. Installation Methods

MW(Z) series DC electromagnetic drum brakes adopt vertical upward electromagnet mounting as the standard configuration; customized horizontal lateral installation is available for equipment with limited vertical space. Mounting dimensions comply with JB/T industry standards, supporting interchangeable replacement of traditional electromagnetic drum brakes.

Standard Vertical Installation

Fasten the cast brake base firmly onto a flat rigid support frame with high-strength bolts. Ensure two brake shoes are symmetrically fitted on both sides of the brake drum, and the central axis of the brake frame is coaxial with the drum to avoid eccentric friction, local overheating and uneven wear of friction linings.

Install the matched DC electromagnet vertically on the top of the brake arm. Keep the armature pull rod moving vertically without deflection to guarantee stable magnetic suction for brake release after power-on.

The built-in linkage equal-gap balancing mechanism automatically maintains uniform clearance between friction linings and the drum on both sides, eliminating unilateral shoe dragging and reducing frequent manual calibration.

Reserve sufficient surrounding space for friction lining replacement, torque adjustment, coil maintenance and manual release operation.

Optional Horizontal Side Mounting

Suitable for compact trolley running mechanisms and narrow vertical layout equipment. Flip the brake arm assembly and install the brake laterally around the brake drum, requiring customized transition brackets. After horizontal assembly, inspect the elasticity of armature reset springs to avoid incomplete braking or delayed release.

Key Installation Requirements

All hinge pivot points are equipped with maintenance-free self-lubricating bearings, no regular greasing required after installation.

Thoroughly remove oil stains, rust and dust on the brake drum surface before commissioning; grease contamination will drastically reduce friction performance.

Adjust the pre-compression of the main braking spring via adjusting nuts to set the target braking torque.

Fail-safe working principle: Energize the DC electromagnet to generate magnetic pull and open brake shoes for release; cut off power, the main spring pushes brake shoes to clamp the drum for automatic braking.

Isolate electromagnetic coils from splashing water, heavy dust and corrosive gas to extend service life.

Model distinction: MW is standard DC electromagnetic brake; MWZ integrates rectifier module for direct AC power input without separate rectifier.

2. Standard Matching Accessories

Core Functional Supporting Components

DC Electromagnet AssemblyExclusive driving unit for MW(Z) series. MW matches independent DC coils with separate rectifiers; MWZ comes with built-in rectifier modules supporting AC220V/380V input.

Manual Release LeverRealizes emergency brake opening during power failure or equipment overhaul for static maintenance and inspection.

Status Limit SwitchesDetect fully-braked and fully-released states of the brake, transmit feedback signals to the control system for safety interlock and operation fault alarm.

Consumable Spare Parts

Snap-on Quick-Replace Friction LiningsEco-friendly non-asbestos wear-resistant friction blocks with clamping structure; replaceable separately without disassembling the whole brake frame. Semi-metallic linings are optional for heavy-load and high-frequency braking conditions.

Complete Adjustment & Fastener KitIncludes torque adjusting nuts, clearance fine-tuning screws, lock bolts, hinge pins and auxiliary reset springs for long-term maintenance and parameter recalibration.

Spare DC Coils & Rectifier ModulesFor replacement when coils are burnt, aging or rectifier components fail.

3. Optional Custom Accessories

Flameproof electromagnetic components and Ex-certified limit switches for coal mines, chemical plants and other flammable & explosive hazardous zones.

Special transition brackets dedicated to horizontal side mounting layout.

Dust and splash-proof protective covers for outdoor, mining and cement plant high-dust working sites.

Anti-corrosion surface coating and stainless steel fasteners for coastal, humid and salt-fog corrosive environments.

Buffer damping assemblies to reduce impact, vibration and running noise under frequent start-stop cycles.
