1. Installation Methods

TYW series foot-operated hydraulic drum brakes adopt vertical thruster mounting as standard, horizontal side mounting can be customized for equipment with limited vertical space. Mounting dimensions comply with general mechanical industry standards, interchangeable with conventional electro-hydraulic drum brakes of the same drum diameter.

Standard Vertical Installation

Fasten the cast brake base firmly to a flat rigid bracket with high-strength bolts. Ensure two brake shoes are symmetrically distributed on both sides of the brake drum, and the central axis of the brake frame is coaxial with the drum to avoid eccentric friction, local overheating and uneven abrasion of friction linings.

Install the matched hydraulic cylinder vertically upward on the brake arm. Keep the piston push rod moving straight without deflection to output stable hydraulic thrust when stepping on the foot pedal.

The built-in linkage equal-gap balancing device automatically maintains uniform clearance between friction linings and the drum on both sides, reducing frequent manual adjustment and preventing unilateral shoe dragging.

Reserve enough surrounding space for lining replacement, braking torque adjustment and daily inspection. The foot hydraulic pedal assembly needs to be fixed on the operation platform within easy reach of operators.

Optional Horizontal Side Mounting

Suitable for compact trolley mechanisms and equipment with narrow vertical height. Flip the brake arm assembly and mount the brake laterally around the brake drum, which requires customized transition brackets. After installation, check cylinder reset spring elasticity to avoid incomplete braking or slow release.

Key Installation Requirements

All hinge pivot points are equipped with maintenance-free self-lubricating bearings; no regular greasing required after installation.

Thoroughly remove oil, rust and dust on the brake drum surface before commissioning; oil contamination will sharply reduce friction coefficient.

Adjust pre-compression of the main brake spring via adjusting nuts to set required braking torque.

Working principle: Step down the foot pedal to push hydraulic oil into the cylinder, which overcomes spring force to open brake shoes and release the brake; release the pedal, hydraulic pressure drops, and the main spring clamps the drum for braking.

Arrange hydraulic pipelines without sharp bends to prevent oil flow blockage; avoid excessive pipeline length causing delayed brake response.
