Product Overview

YFX-550/80 storm wedge brake is a dedicated wind safety locking device for outdoor rail cranes, with the core working principle of spring applied wind braking, electro-hydraulic thruster release. Different from conventional running brakes, this brake focuses on static anti-slip and storm protection during crane shutdown.

When the crane is ready to operate, the supporting ED80 electro-hydraulic thruster is energized to generate hydraulic thrust, pulling the wedge block away from the rail and releasing the brake, so the crane can travel freely. When the crane stops working or encounters sudden power failure, the built-in high-strength compression spring instantly pushes the wedge block to clamp the rail tightly. With reliable self-locking structure, it firmly locks the crane travelling wheel, completely avoiding equipment runaway and displacement caused by strong wind or storm.

The whole machine adopts heavy-duty cast steel structure, featuring strong impact resistance and wind resistance. With automatic gap adjustment and stable self-locking performance, it is the standard safety matching device for outdoor large-scale rail lifting equipment.

Working Principle

Power-on Release (Crane Running State)

When the crane needs to travel, the supporting ED80 electro-hydraulic thruster is energized to work stably. The hydraulic thrust overcomes the spring preload, pulls the wedge block back and separates it from the 80mm rail. The brake is fully released without locking resistance, and the rail crane can travel freely and work normally.

Power-off Locking (Storm & Shutdown State)

When the crane stops working or the power supply is interrupted, the electro-hydraulic thruster stops working instantly. The built-in high-strength compression spring rapidly pushes the wedge block forward to tightly clamp the crane rail. Relying on high friction self-locking performance, it generates powerful windproof braking force to lock the travelling wheel firmly, effectively preventing crane displacement, sliding and runaway accidents caused by strong wind and storm in outdoor environment.
